Yes, I know, the picture isn’t the greatest and while I still have this pillow adorning our couch It has been loved and is a bit scraggly. This is what induced me to study and learn crochet again. I love video games. I love the old video games and the happy memories they bring back of late nights trying to beat levels and no way to save! Memories of fighting with my brother for MY turn to play…hahaha.

There are so many mistakes I made with this thing but he turned out cute nonetheless and I love him!

We are preparing our house to sell and oh man, I am pooped! It’s hard enough getting through that to do list without any added complications but when you add it two busy little french fries it gets darn near impossible! Thankfully my parents took the boys for us yesterday and played them hard while the hubs and I worked worked worked. We finished painting our large family room and installing new baseboards. It looks great but oh so different. When we first moved in, just a month after our wedding, I painted this room key lime with dark brown trims and light blue accents. It is now a creamy white with bright white trims. It looks good but it’s so not me. I miss my cheery green little room.

Before

After

It looks nice and hubsy did a great job on the trims, I just miss my colorful space.

Onto cheerier things. I thought I’d share another of my past projects with you. In addition to that blue blanket I made for my nephew, I wanted to make sure my little niece got a little surprise too. I had this fuzzy white yarn sitting around, well, actually it was in a half finished scarf that I frogged. I also had the red yarn lying around. I modified a purse pattern I found online as well as a flower patter and voila! My little girly purse.

Something that has helped me immensely as a crocheter has been making things for those I love. It can be so overwhelming when digging into a new skill set so some focus really helped me! My life has been filled with babies! It seems as if nearly everyone I know is having or has had a beautiful baby. It’s really so fun to dig through patterns to find that baby blanket that’s just right for that special little one.

My brother and sister in law just had their second child, first son, and he is just the cutest little guy! I finished the blanket for him just in time, like days before he was born. Life is really such a miracle. I had the honor and privelage of watching him be born. It was so amazing and my sister in law is one tough cookie!

There’s just something so, almost meditative, about crocheting. Each stitch is filled with love for the one you are making it for. Without further ado, here is my Gingham Baby Blanket.

One last picture of the pretty edge:

Isn’t this just beautiful?

I’ve crafted a few granny squares but I’m not liking them straight up. I think I am going to pull out the outer edge and have four different colors instead of coordinating inner and outer colors.
